About the project

Digital exports are creating growth opportunities for all businesses—regardless of location—by removing and reducing barriers to cross-border buying and selling. Stripe analyses international business and consumer sentiment surveys, as well as transaction data on its platform, to identify emerging trends in the global digital economy. The report was based on an analysis of aggregated transaction data on the Stripe platform as well as surveys with 1,700 business leaders and 11,500 consumers across nine global markets.

The challenge

Simple but engaging data narratives

Stripe’s branding and design guidelines focus on simplicity and key accent colours to communicate their insights. Yet, their data was layered and complex, with each visual containing several categories that had to be meaningfully differentiated and still remain comprehensible. Our challenge was to create impactful data visuals that communicated clearly, while still retaining Stripe’s elegance and refinement.

Multipurpose visuals

These visuals will be used on several places and platforms, including a PDF report, website banners, slide presentations and so on. We had to ensure they were flexible and dynamic enough to be viewed and understood across platforms.

Our creative solution

We assisted Stripe with the design of several key visuals for their annual flagship report on global digital export trends. Based on the client’s available data, we recommended a mix of concept- and data-driven infographics/illustrations, which were styled according to their brand guidelines. We also ensured that the visuals could be reused in multiple formats (web, PDF, social media) as the report would be disseminated for various purposes.
